The new standard (AS/NZS 1754:2010) for child restraints is based on approximate age and seated height, rather than the previous weight range. To help understand which child restraint is appropriate Safety1st Air Protect introduced Upper and Lower shoulder height markers to their car seats
Infant Stage: Newborn to approximately 6 months old or until infant's shoulders reach the upper height marker
Infant/Toddler Stage: Newborn to approximately 12 months old in rearward-facing or until the infant's shoulders meet the lower height marker. Then to be used in forward-facing position to approximately 4 years or until the child's shoulders reach the upper height mark
Toddler Stage: Approximately 6 months of age until the infant's shoulders meet the lower height marker approximately 4 years of age
Toddler/Child Stage:
Toddler Mode: To be used in forward-facing position with built-in harness from approximately 6 months to approximately 4 years or until the child's shoulders reach the middle shoulder height marker
Booster Mode: To be used in with a lap-sash seat belt from approximately 4 years to approximately 6-8 years or until child's shoulder reach the upper shoulder height marker
